SAVIORS Dec 2005 Dec 2005
Based on a series of sermons by Rev Woodie Woodland and stories in Guidepost and Angels magazines,
it has come to my attention that there are different kinds of Saviors, - We'll look at a few:
Political: A person or group of people, who use the powers of political influence to do things, that will save their people, or at least make life better.
In the Bible one of the most outstanding people was Queen Esther, who was a Jewish girl married to a Persian King. When she found out that the King's Chief of staff was planning to massacre her people, she risked her life to inform the King thus saving thousands of her people.
Many American slaves thought of Abraham Lincoln as a savior, for passing legislation that eventually freed the slaves.
Franklin Roosevelt, came up with programs that pulled us out of the great depression, then through WW2.
There are others - that you may think of
Military: A leader who is able to lead his army in a manner that will defeat the enemy, thus saving his people.
In the Bible we find King David, Gideon and others, that lead their armies into impossible odds and God gave them the victory.
We have our George Washington, US Grant, Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas McArthur and others.
Wisdom: Those who are capable of using their knowledge and experience to save lives, communities, nations from real or pending danger, or turn people to a better, more christian way of life. D2 Wisdom
In the Bible, we find King Solomon, and other books of Wisdom, like Job Proverbs, Ecclesiasties; in the Apocrypha: Sirach and Wisdom.
We have Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Norman Vincent Peale, Robert Schuller and others.
Good * Doctors, Ministers, Lawyers, Counselors, Educators, Spiritual Leaders, Parents and Grandparents. *check Because not all of these people are God fearing. D7
some appear to be missing
