At the beginning of each season, originally the 4 religious seasons which more or less correspond with the natural seasons.
They were originally set up by the Roman Catholic, Church of England and the Anglican Churches; in the 4th Century.
They more or less make up for some of the lost or forgotten fast days; so you can start the season refreshed, renewed, and refueled.
